Trip to the Devils River down South

devilsriverfishermanIf you have never heard of the Devils River you are truly going to be in awe with the photos I bring to you in this post. This place is like a dream fishing location for canoers, kayakers, campers and fisherman. For one the water is crystal clear and chocked full of many different game species of fish. Along with the clear water you have the beautiful mountain scenery and rocky terrain of the Texas/Mexico border to enjoy. Many first timers will need to contact a guide to show them the ins and outs of what to do and where to go. Since many trips can last a minimum of eighthours a day you are going to want to be in pretty decent shape and health. devilsrivergarThere are no hospitals around. It is truly the wild outdoors. This river is located north of Lake Amistad in Del Rio TX. It is fed by many clear springs so the water is always cold. Perfect for the angler who is chasing a trophy small mouth bass. There are many other things to do while at the river if kayaking or fishing isn’t your agenda. At the Devils River State Natural Area you can enjoy camping, biking, hiking, nature viewing, horseback riding, swimming and more. Make sure you bring plenty food and water because you will be a long way from civilization. From where you put in at devilsriverkayaker2Bakers Crossing @ highway 163 you can enjoy a 47 mile multiple day trip on the river if you are a very experienced paddler. Of course you do not have to take the whole river on there are other options available for you at your guides request.
